LOVE IT
By Jose
2008 Scion Tc and Iphone 4s owner.

Let me begin by saying I rarely write reviews, but seeing as this great item has no reviews I feel compelled to do so.
I have never owned a stereo of this kind, but looking forward I am going to stay with kenwood. Im not going to mention specs you all can do that im going to mention little quirks I find amazing.

-Ipod Controls: are fluid you have your playlist, artist, genre, songs, etc. Scrolling down a list of songs on my old stock radio was impossible, but with this its so fluid. It also shows album art. This can only be done if you have your iphone is connected through USB! Don't worry it charges your phone.

-Pandora Controls:this is what blew me out of the water. Not only are your stations there, but you can create stations directly from the stereo. You can even dislike or like a song! This can only be done if you have your iphone is connected through USB! Don't worry it charges your phone.

DVDs:i had a bypass done so I can play dvds while driving in case I have any passengers interested in watching a movie. The quality of image is good.

Bluetooth:Works great connects as soon as I enter my car. You can play music through BT, but you get way more functionality if you connect your iphone via usb. For example if you connect your iphone via usb you can see your phonebook, missed calls, etc. It even tells you your phones charge level! Without doing so you can only pick up calls and not make calls. Calls are clear and crisp and I have not had any instances where the other person could not hear me.

A little annoyance is that say you plug the aux before the iphone usb you don't hear the sound, but you can see it playing. All you have to do is disconnect and connect the aux back in.

Overall this is an amazing product. Makes my dash look elegant, and I feel like don't even need my phone out I just leave it in the glove compartment. Save me a potential ticket.

Buy this head unit!
By Travis Opheim
Incredible head unit for the price! I did a TON of research, so will provide the highlights.

First, I installed the unit with Sirius XM, iPod cable into a 2007 VW Touareg. The sound quality is great and definitely better than the stock HU. I have an iPhone 5 and tons of great features work. Only thing you lose is the video as other reviews mention.

What I love:
Sirius XM a must
Bluetooth audio and phone paired in 2 secs
Pandora via Bluetooth is easy and same as when connected. Only diff is thumbs up or down only done when connecting cable.
Screen is good for viewing movies...no "retina" display, but still nice.
No issues with mic for phone, clear as a bell!

Here is the best part for iPhone 4S or 5 users...you get Siri hands free! Just hold the TEL button and it activates Siri. Was designed to say, "call home", but if you say "text John", it will take you through voice prompts to send, read texts, etc. so cool. Also, you can get the audio only for GPS turn-by-turn. Hold TEL button, say "give me directions home", and you'll hear directions through speakers.

Buy this head unit!

Kenwood DDX470 for SUV
By Pavl
I bought this stereo to replace the sony single din stereo I put in my 2002 Mountaineer three years ago since the aux jack broke.

1) All I required for this set up was a pair or pliers (socket wrench honestly would be easier), a screw driver, and I recommend a solder station or crimp caps. You also need to get a wiring harness to match your vehicle, and I got a double din installation kit as well since I was going from a single din to a double din.

2) Installation was pretty easy, match colors on wiring harnesses and then plug into car harness and the antenna jack. I used a USB and aux cable extenders and ran them so they come out by the passenger feet and vent, and when I need to use them I have an iPod, microusb, and an aux cable to connect to the inputs stored in my center console.

3) Once installed, the initial set up isn't very intuitive, but with the help of the manual and just playing around I was able to get it to do everything needed.

4) I have an Android phone, so I hooked it up via bluetooth, and Pandora streaming works perfectly, letting you browse current stations you have, like dislike skip songs, and look up new stations via genre. (If you have an iPhone supposedly you can do Pandora through your usb iPhone cable. Speaking of bluetooth, I also ran the included mic and installed it on my steering column, I've had no problems with making or receiving bluetooth calls and everyone I've asked has said that the call quality was really good, even with opens windows going down the highway.

5) USB/phone playback. If you hook up your phone or a USB drive to the USB input, it also allows you to play music from your phone/sd card/usb drive and navigate and control is from the console.

6) iPod playback (this setup is a little tricky) - You can buy a special iPod cable from Kenwood if you wish to display videos from your iPod. Since I had no interest in this, I plugged in my iPod Classic using a generic $2 cable from Amazon and set input A/V 2 instead of iPod, and then you playback all your music and control it from your console. If you got the cable, KCA-IP202, then use the iPod input and enjoy videos.

6) Radio works fine, lets you save up to 18 FM stations and 6 AM stations, the only issue I found is that the RDS text and song titles can take up to 30seconds to load and it will just display waiting in between.

There is also a new firmware for this stereo from kenwood's website which is supposed to improve iPod function. I will upgrade the review when I have a chance to update it.
