Very good quality mount for Garmin Edge 500
By J. Wallace
I was quite unhappy with the mount that came with the Edge 500. It seemed very flimsy for such an expensive bike computer. Considering the mount attached with O-Rings which can degrade with UV exposure and break-I was even less pleased. I know of one person who lost their Edge 500 because the mount tab broke and their unit went into some rocks and disappeared.

This mount is the opposite of that. It installs easily with the enclosed 2.5mm hex key. I torqued it down to the specified .8 N/m. It is made of quality plastic and has a clever mounting structure that really holds the Edge 500 tightly. It holds the computer at a real sweet spot for viewing while riding. It also looks great on the bike.

I think the quality rates a 5 star but $40 for a plastic mount that should have come with the bike computer in the first place makes it not really a 5 start item.

Flimsiest of the bunch
By Robert Cawthorne
I ordered the Garmin Out-Front to replace the Barfly thinking the quality would be better. Not so. Which the lower profile is nice it is not near as stable as the Barfly. Ended up with the K-Edge version and am very happy with it.

Works well but is pricey
By M. Erb
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3DH47CC3263L1 I own the Garmin Edge 500. Although I do not have any issues with the mount that Garmin includes with the Edge 500, I decided to purchase the out-front mount just so I could have more open space on my handlebar and to move the display forward. Moving the display forward does make it easier to see and I have grown to really prefer the out-front position.

Garmin includes a rubber pad that you will not need unless you have a 28mm diameter handlebar. For 31.8mm diameter handlebars, the mount will fit directly without the pad. A hex wrench is included and will be needed to loosen the handlebar mount connector screw.

It's also possible to change the orientation of the mounting plate by removing the other two hex screws, repositioning the mounting plate and then retightening the screws.

It's mostly plastic in construction and I fail to see how it could possibly cost this much. But it does so that's that.

If you are considering one of the CNC machined mounts or any other mount for that matter, be sure that the attachemnt point is plastic on plastic. If it's metal, not plastic, you risk having the metal surface of the mount prematurely wear down the plastic tabs on the Garmin device. This will cause looseness and possible early failure of the Garmin mounting surface.
