Useful, but big and has one major flaw

I have two cigarette lighter adapters in the front of my Santa Fe, and because it's an older vehicle with no USB port for my iPod, I find myself fighting for manage those slots. This dual-port, swiveling adapter definitely does make traveling easier for me. The lights on it make me know it's working. I can now plug in a portable DVD player for my son during long trips, and I can have my cell phone charging AND my iPod playing over the radio, all at the same time.

But.

Even with the swiveling head, this adapter is cumbersome. It gets in the way and may even be unusable in some cars where the lighter may be directly behind the shifter or even a cup holder. I can manage it alright in my car and I can still have my iPod stand up and working, but this is the BIG ISSUE; if you bump the adapter just a little, chances are good it will disconnect from its power source. That's not a big deal when you're just recharging something, but it's happened a few times that the DVD player will go out, and I'll have to replug and restart the player. If your GPS is plugged into it, then the same thing will happen; the power interuption will cause you to drive off of a cliff and into the swamp of alligators.

I suppose I exaggerate the repercussions because so far there's nothing so important a momentary power interuption will cause permanent scars, but it is really annoying. Aside from those times, and there have been several bumps and power losses, this adapter has worked just fine. If you think that problem would annoy you, or if the sheer length of the adapter will cause issues, there are many other adapters out there at comparible (inexpensive) prices.

Good dual-port adapter but why so big?

This dual-port adapter gets the job done but is kind of annoyingly big. I've used quite a few cigarette lighter adapters in general and some of them go in and out really easily and others feel like I'm going to pull the whole panel off I have to try so hard to get them to come out. This one thankfully is the former; it goes in and out of the lighter port pretty easily. As noted in the photos above there is a kind of twisty thing that you can push down to help make it flush when it's in the lighter port...unfortunately the thing is so long that it never actually can get flush because it doesn't go down far enough. You can also push down the grey button on the side to swivel the thing up and down, which is really great. Unfortunately in my case when I have this thing plugged and it's got stuff plugged into it it sticks out so far that it actually gets in the way of my gear shift. Thankfully since the adapter head can maneuver up and down it can be moved out of the way, but really...why is this thing so big in the first place? Overall a good buy if you need an extra plugin while in your car, but be mindful of the fact that this thing is pretty huge.

I should have gotten this a long time ago!

Who knew such a simple thing would be so great?!?! It's just a little thing....how great can it really be? Well, for me, it is perfect! When my wife and I are driving and I need to use my phone for navigation and she needs to charge hers someone used to lose.....not any more. Both phones are now plugged in and good to go. Awesome. Yes, it is useful, and I am very confident that this would make an IDEAL stocking stuffer....especially because people don't realize how useful it would be to them. But here are some other pluses that I was not expecting. It fits in to the charger perfectly. It is flexible, not cumbersome, portable (take it with you on trips and use in your car rental), and feels solid. I am also happy that it did not blow a fuse in either of my cars.....and I have to be honest, that was a major concern, especially in my Audi. As it turns out, it was completely unfounded. Buy this, you will be surprised how much you will use it AND appreciate it!!!

Btw, phone and headset chargers fit well....all chargers that I tried fit well....from phone's to iPads, etc..

A great gadget, great quality, great price!

Just get it!
