The mount is very sturdy and works very well. Just make sure you have the surface available to support the base of the mount. My is very thin, but has just enough space to support it. The mount works very well and will not come off the vent like others I've used.

Great in concept...

I bought this vent mounting version because I didn't feel comfortable using anything "stickum" based on my nice new car... Unfortunately I think the angle of my vents combined with angle of the dash really didn't give the mount a proper way to balance itself. And it felt VERY unstable from the get go. No surprise that two days later--despite my gingerly placing the iphone in the cradle--it came popping out and took one of the air vent slats with it. :O(
